Student volunteers help frontline healthcare workers at checkpoints
7 checkpoints have been set up within major entry and exit points in Da Nang to contain further spread of the novel coronavirus.
Apart from healthcare workers and police officers at these checkpoints, students from universities and junior colleges across the city are joining forces with them to support efforts of the city in the fight against the new virus..
Student Le Duc Thang from the University of Education said he is working with healthcare workers and police officers at the checkpoint at the end point of Truong Sa Street in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward.
Thang said that he is responsible for checking the temperature of arrivals to the city, working as an interpreter for healthcare workers, and helping international arrivals to fill health declaration forms.
According to Mr Nguyen Duy Thanh from the Da Nang Youth Union, about 1,200 youth union members from universities, junior colleges and districts around the city have registered for joining the fight against coronavirus. 200 young volunteers are already sent to the 7 checkpoints.
"Apart from students, other young people in the city are ready to join the city's battle against the epidemic” Mr Thanh added.
