An exhibition entitled ‘Da Nang – The Coastal City through Archives’, is taking place at the Museum of Da Nang, 24 Tran Phu until 19 July.

The event attracted hundreds of visitors on its opening date on Thursday afternoon.

Co-organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the State Records Management and Archives Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the 10-day event introduces to the public more than 200 documents, maps and images selected from the national archives along with collections offered by the Museum of Da Nang, the municipal Department of Publicity and Training, and some other organisations.

Besides,many rare and precious documents that have been recognised as world heritage documents, including woodblocks and sealing documents owned by the Nguyen Dynasty are also on display in the show.

Exhibits on display at the event are arranged in the 3 main themes associated with each important historical landmark. They are ‘Da Nang –land and people’, ‘Da Nang in the process of fighting and protecting the national independence (1858-1975), and ‘Da Nang in the process of construction and development (1975 to present)’.

 Through the exhibits, visitors gain a deeper insight into the magnificent past, historical value and great achievements the coastal city has recoded during its long history of more than 700 years.  In the photo is an image of the Cam Le District-based Lo Giang communal village house, which was ranked as a national-level historical and cultural relic site in January 2007.
