Although the advent of email has hurt postal mail service in recent years, stamp collecting remains a passionate hobby as well as a valuable business and investment strategy in many countries around the world, including Viet Nam.

With her strong hobby about collecting stamps, Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, 69, hailing from Tam Thuan Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, has diligently collected postage stamps with the diversity in subjects shown on her collected stamps . Specifically mentioned is her incredible collections of zodiac stamps.

Over the past more than 50 years, Mrs Thanh has collected close to 100,000 postage stamps of all kinds with diverse themes from flowers to religion and 12 zodiac animals.

Amongst stamp collectors in Da Nang, Thanh has the highest number of stamps. Since a young age, she has spent lots of efforts, time and money on creating stamp collections. The passionate collector arranges her stamps in albums, usually very neatly, organising her collection according to certain commonplace principles-perhaps by grouping stamps by what they depict - people, animals and so on.

As being a member of the Da Nang Stamp Club, Mrs Thanh has participated in many stamp contests nationwide and won many awards. Included are the Prize B at the Viet Nam Stamp Exhibition (Vietstampex) 2005, and the bronze prize at the postage stamp exhibition in the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands in 2010
