25 March saw Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc grant an investment policy decision to the development of shared infrastructure in the Lien Chieu port project. Da Nang People's Committee (PC) acts as the governance body for this large-scale landmark project.

The first stage of the project is expected to meet an annual capacity of handling a combined total of up to 5 million tonnes of cargo. Its subsequent stages will aim to reduce the overload at the Tien Sa and Son Tra terminals, and ease the traffic volume going through the inner city.
