The tiny shrimp catching season starts from the 10th to late 3rd lunar months. However, fishermen begin to enjoy a bumper haul of tiny shrimps after Tet holiday.

In recent weeks, the bustling trading ambience created by trading in tiny shrimps has been recorded on beaches at the foot of Da Nang’s Son Tra Peninsula. Inshore fishermen in the city have been delighted at a bumper haul of this type of seafood which is considered to be ‘a gift of the sea’.

Fishermen in Da Nang often make inshore fishing trips through the night and return to shore with a bumper catch of tiny shrimps in the early morning of the following day. Each fishing vessel can bring back between 400 and 700 kilos of tiny shrimps after its night-time inshore fishing trip. After deducting all expenses, each crewmember can earn from VND800,000 to more than VND1 million per trip.
