Over recent days, the ‘cuc hoa mi’ (pure-white daisies) garden in the campus of the Biotechnology Centre in Hoa Tho Tay Ward, Cam Le District has attracted many local residents and tourists who were eager to admire the beauty of, and snap photos of the petit blossoming flowers.

In this year's daisies crop, the Centre for Biotechnology has planted 6,000 flowers on a total area of 500m2. |
In March 2022, the Biotechnology Centre successfully planted the third season of pure-white daisies, after two previous successful flowering seasons at the end of 2019 and March 2021, respectively.
Deputy Director of the Centre for Biotechnology Dang Ngoc Minh said that these blooming daisies are grown in the off-season.
Through each flower season, the centre’s staff and technicians make every effort to care for these lovely flowers to achieve the same quality as those grown in the main season, thereby creating more "check-in" points for people.
Till date, the area for growing daisies has increased to 500m2 with about 6,000 flowers, nearly twice as large as the figured reported last year.
The garden has opened to visitors for photo shootings from the middle of March, 2022. According to Mr. Minh, it takes about 3 - 3.5 months from sowing to harvesting flowers. Flowers are very long-lasting, and one crop lasts 1-1.5 months if well cared for.

The daisies are scientifically named Matricaria Chamomilla, belonging to the Asteraceae family. In Viet Nam, this type of flowers is grown in such localities with cold weather as Ha Noi and Da Lat. People have long viewed the blossoming daisies as a yearly marker that the cold season is just around the corner in these localities. However, when being successfully grown in Da Nang, this type of flower still blooms evenly and beautifully in the spring. |
|
Thanks to the efforts made by the Centre for Biotechnology, the daisies grow well and bloom out of season in the harsh climate of the central region. |
|
Since the flower garden was opened in the middle of March, 2022, many people and tourists have come here to "check-in" and take photos. |

Ms. Thien Minh (left) from Quang Nam Provinceshared: "I first came here through a post about a flower garden on social networks. I'm very happy that in Da Nang there is a flower garden that blooms evenly, beautifully, and is well cared for carefully and people can comfortably take beautiful photos with them." |
|
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, a visitor from the central province of Nghe An said: "In my hometown, there are also daisies, but there are only many in late autumn and early winter. It was very surprising to see that this flower is grown in a very orderly manner in Da Nang, and they bloom beautifully in the off-season again, so I had to take advantage of the time to take photos with them because the they are so beautiful." |
