Da Nang youth join football exchange activities with defending champion J-League 2021

Da Nang’s teenagers and children, on Sunday, participated in football exchange activities with Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale Club at the Son Tra District-based Culture, Information and Sports Centre.

The programme was jointly organised by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the city’s Department of Culture and Sports, and the Japanese Consulate General in Da Nang.

Held in Da Nang for the third time, the football exchange programme attracted the participation of more than 60 teenagers and children from football clubs in the city. During the programme, they had the opportunity to interact with the coach of the Kawasaki Frontale Club and were taught basic football skills such as dribbling, passing, and kicking.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Cong Tien remarked the football exchange programme was as part of the Viet Nam - Japan Festival 2022 in the city. He highlighted the significance of the event in promoting sports exchanges between the two countries in addition to other cultural exchange activities within the framework of the festival.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Cong Tien, although this year's football exchange event only took place for a short time, the organisers hope that the local young had meaningful and enjoyable moments of exchange and learning in the summer.

Kawasaki Frontale is the leading team of the Japanese football championship (J-League) over the years and it is the defending champion of this tournament in the 2021 season. Thailand's captain midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin is playing for the club.

Kawasaki Frontale is the first J-League team to have opened a football training academy in Viet Nam in 2021 for children aged 10-12 with its headquarters in Binh Duong Province.
