Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) - a kind of sports that involves standing on a large, inflatable surfboard-like plank and paddling through the water - has been around for decades, but it has only made a splash in Da Nang for recent years.

SUP rowers are not required to know how to swim, and the safety level is high, so this kind of sports is loved by young people in Da Nang in particular and Viet Nam in general.

The Man Thai Beach in Son Tra District has few waves and wind so it is emerging as an ideal place for young people to play the sport.

Aside from a team of coaches, the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches also regulates the paddling area and arranges lifeguards. At the same time, rowers are required to wear life jackets.
