During a reception last Friday for a delegation of government officials from the Lao People's Democratic Republic, led by their Deputy Prime Minister Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications briefed their guests on the city’s application of information technology (IT), and its development orientations which focus on building Da Nang into a smarter city.

The Laotian visitors were interested to learn about the role of the State of Viet Nam in investing in IT infrastructure and calling for FDI in this field.  They also gained an insight into the city’s incentive policies for local IT projects, as well as the training and effective use of IT human resources.

On the same day, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Lengsavad, along with some representatives from the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology, also paid a working visit to the city’s Software Park.

Deputy Prime Minister Lengsavad said that Da Nang, and Viet Nam in general, is giving top priority to developing IT which is a profitable hi-tech industry.  He also affirmed that the IT development orientations are in accordance with the development trends of the world.

He spoke highly of the great efforts made by the city’s authorities in creating human resource development strategies along with building the IT infrastructure and issuing local incentive policies for attracting more investment into this sector.  He added that this would all be valuable experience for Laos as it promotes its IT applications in the near future.
