Mexican Labour Party (PT) Secretary General Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez visited the Vietnamese pavilion at the fifth Friends' Culture Fair in Reforma Avenue, Mexico City, on June 9.

He thanked the Vietnamese embassy for its active contributions to the city’s most important annual cultural event, which was initiated in 2009 by the municipal government.

He said he was impressed by distinctive Vietnamese products on display such as Ao dai (traditional long dress), lacquer paintings, silk garments and other handicrafts.

The Secretary General also announced that the PT will continue assume the chair of the Viet Nam-Mexico Friendship Parliamentary Group in the next three-year term.

This is the third successive time the PT has held this position, aiming to promote the two countries’ parliaments and multi-faceted ties.

The fifth fair, running from May 25-June 9, attracted the participation of 82 nations across the globe.

More than 1.5 million visitors are expected to join the event this year, a record number since it was first held in 2009, and the organising board hopes it will earn nearly US$5 million in revenue, up 25 percent over 2012.
