The Head of the Organising Board of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the city’s Historical Science Association, Mr Bui Van Tieng, recently gave a talk to some of the city’s young government cadres about Viet Nam’s sovereignty over its sea and islands, especially the Hoang Sa Archipelago belonging to Da Nang.

Chairman Tieng said that although our country, and our city in particular, is small, we are proud of our strong determination and ardent patriotism.  He added that the success of the “Paracels of Viet Nam, Historical Evidence” exhibition, which was organised successfully in the city from 29 April to 15 May, has shown the power of patriotism as well as overseas Vietnamese’ significant contribution in helping the country to reaffirm its claims.

Chairman Tieng also affirmed that over the past years the city has issued many support policies for local fishermen so that they can build fishing vessels.  He also took the opportunity to call for local young cadres, who are getting involved in the bilateral cooperation with Japan’s Yokohama city, to encourage more Japanese businesses to invest in Da Nang’s ship building sector in order to provide more fishing vessels for local fishermen.  This will help them to maintain their offshore fishing activities as well as to enhance the protection of the country’s sea and islands.  He also stressed the need for local young cadres to make proposals about the upgrading of local fishing vessels.
