A talk entitled “A 30-year Journey of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity (VCCS)” took place in Da Nang on Thursday morning.

At the event, some priests, researchers and scholars gave 15 speeches about the theoretical and practical issues relating to the establishment and the role of the VCCS from many different perspectives.  The participants also learnt about experiences in the operation of VCCS branches in some localities across the country.  In addition, the importance of the establishment of VCCS, which is considered to act as a bridge between the State and the Catholic committee, was highlighted.

Over the past 3 decades, the VCCS has encouraged its Catholic believers to promote local patriotic emulation movements and uphold the spirit of “living a gospel life in the heart of people to serve the people’s welfare”.  The committee has also called on its followers to join hands with nationwide residents to become actively involved in the country’s “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas” campaign.  Therefore, it has made significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic and cultural development over this period.
