Review of socio-economic development over last 6 months

During the 7th session of the 8th Da Nang People’s Council (PC) for the 2011 - 2016 term, the focus will be on reviewing local socio-economic development over the last 6 months, as well as identifying the key tasks for the remaining months of this year and addressing important issues.

In his opening speech, the municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary, Mr Tran Tho, remarked that, despite the economic difficulties, the city’s authorities along with its local residents and businesses have made great efforts to ensure stable socio-economic growth in the city.  He added that this would help to create a momentum for fulfilling this year’s key tasks well.

In his report on the city’s socio-economic development between January and June, People’s Committee Chairman Van Huu Chien said that 5,250 billion VND was collected for the State budget over the period, representing 44% of the municipal PC’s budgetary estimates.  In detail, collections from export and import activities accounted for 29.4% of the total, tax payments from individuals and businesses 48.5%, local charges 50.6%, and land-use fees 41.7%.  There was an increase of 39.4% year-on-year in local fee and tax collections, representing 50.6 % of the year’s target.  Over the last 6 months, the city has also attached great importance to using its budget effectively, as well as strictly implementing the regulations relating to spending.

Deputy Secretary Tho also stressed the need for PC members to uphold their sense of responsibility, acquire a thorough grasp of the session’s agenda items, and become actively involved in the discussions in order to ensure the success of the session as well as satisfy local voters’ expectations.
