Viet Nam is keen to boost cooperation with Japan in various fields, especially in politics, diplomacy, science and technology, education, training and labour.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at a reception for the visiting Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Toshimitsu Motegi in Hanoi on July 1.

PM Dung expressed hope that both sides will enjoy practical benefits from the implementation of the signed agreements.

Regarding the development of strategic partnership between the two countries, he said Viet Nam always attaches great importance to promoting bilateral cooperative relations with Japan based on mutual trust and understanding.

The two countries should increase two-way trade turnover and create the best possible conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in Viet Nam and, for Vietnamese nurses to work in Japan, Dung said.

The Government leader asked Japan to increase its ODA for Viet Nam’s projects on transport infrastructure, energy, health care and education and support the country in carrying out Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant and rare earth exploitation projects.

Dung also insisted both sides should go ahead with an action plan to develop six key industries as Viet Nam’s industrialization strategy within the Viet Nam-Japan cooperation framework until 2020 with a vision for 2030.

For his part, the Japanese guest pledged all-out efforts to promote cooperation with Viet Nam in economics, trade and investment. He noted that that during his visit, both sides discussed in detail 15 cooperation areas, including support industry, energy,  human resources training and the environment.
