City leader welcomes Swedish Ambassador to Viet Nam

During his reception on Tuesday for the Swedish Ambassador to Viet Nam, Ms Camilla Mellander, the Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, thanked the visiting guest for introducing many large Swedish urban transport companies to his city.

Vice Chairman Viet asked the Ambassador to give more support to his city in the aspects of renewable energy and refuse and wastewater treatment.  He also took the opportunity to appeal for more Swedish businesses to invest in the city’s hi-tech park.

In addition, the city leader stressed the need for Da Nang to build a smart transport system with a focus on the city’s priority areas of collecting road-use fees, producing renewable energy, and using electrically powered buses.

The Swedish diplomat had introduced to the city leader to some Swedish high quality urban transport companies which could establish bilateral cooperation with the city in clean and renewable industries.  The companies included Scandia, Kapsch, ABB and Volvo.  She suggested that Da Nang and the Swedish businesses should discuss specific cooperative projects in the near future.
