Da Nang Newspaper’s reporter Son Trung recently had an interview with the Chairman of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands District People's Committee, Mr Dang Cong Ngu, about the competition to design the Hoang Sa Exhibition House in Da Nang.

Chairman Ngu said that the winning design must reflect the historical process of establishing and protecting Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago.  The exhibition house will help raise the public’s awareness of the existence of Hoang Sa, and that it is an integral part of Viet Nam.

He added that the criteria for the design of the house are economically, impressive architecture, meeting the requirements for green architecture as stipulated by the Viet Nam Association of Architects, as well as to make it one of the city's popular tourist attractions .  In addition, there should be an outdoor garden to re-create images of the archipelago.

The new 3-storey-plus-basement house will be built on an area of 685m2 on Hoang Sa Street in Son Tra District’s Man Thai Ward.  The basement will be used for document storage, restoration, toilets and vehicle parking spaces.  The 1st floor will display images, maps and mock-ups relating to the geographical and administrative features of Hoang Sa District.  The 2nd floor will be an administrative  area, whilst the 3rd floor will showcase documents about Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago.  Also on this floor, there will be a 70-seater meeting hall and a multimedia room to screen documentary films.
