Viet Nam, Namibia raise diplomatic, agricultural cooperation
Viet Nam and Namibia have signed agreements to boost their cooperation in diplomacy and agriculture.
The deals were reached during Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s State visit to Viet Nam from November 18-20, which was described by President Truong Tan Sang as a momentum to bring bilateral ties to a new period of development in a deep and result-oriented way.
During their talks on November 19 in Ha Noi, President Sang and his Namibian counterpart agreed to continue speeding up joint agricultural projects with tri-party cooperation models by strengthening bilateral connectivity and calling for the engagement of the private sector in the work.

The leaders agreed to bolster exchanges of delegations at all levels, strengthen people-to-people contacts and accelerate the twinning of localities to further the mutual understanding of the two peoples.
Expressing their delight at the positive outcomes between the two countries over the past years, the two Presidents pledged that they will direct relevant ministries and sectors to build specific plans to foster cooperation across investment, trade, education and training, healthcare, tourism, and aviation transport services.
On this occasion, the Namibian leader officially announced his country’s recognition of Viet Nam’s full market economy regulations. He also invited President Truong Tan Sang to visit his country at a suitable time, which was accepted with pleasure.
Congratulating Namibia on the impressive development achievements, President Sang hailed the country’s positive contributions to peace, stability and cooperation in the Southern African Development Community and in the continent as a whole.
Viet Nam wants to expand ties with African countries, including Namibia, an intimate friend that has supported Viet Nam in its past struggle for national independence as well as its current national construction, President Sang confirmed.
He appreciated that Namibia recognises Viet Nam’s market economy regulations, saying that this is an important contribution to the sound traditional relationship, reflecting deep mutual trust and support.
During the talks, the two leaders also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Viet Nam congratulated Namibia for winning a seat in the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2014-2016 tenure. It committed to working closely with the country at international and regional forums and the South-South cooperation framework, contributing to building a more equal and democratic world for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
