Canadian Ambassador vows to promote bilateral cooperation with the city

The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council, Mr Huynh Nghia recently played host to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Viet Nam, Mr David Devine.  Also present at the event were the Head of the Economics and Budget Board of the municipal People’s Council and Da Nang Newspaper Editor-in-Chief, Mr Mai Duc Loc.

The Canadian diplomat said he was deeply impressed with Da Nang’s beautiful landscape and healthy environment.  He also highly appreciated the city’s initiatives to help its young generations have the opportunity to study at overseas universities.  The visiting guest also remarked that the initiatives played a vital role in creating a firm foundation for the city’s progress in the future.

The Ambassador also vowed that he would do his utmost during his tenure to further promote his country’s cooperative ties with Da Nang, as well as with Viet Nam as a whole, in aspects to which his government pays much attention.  They include  trade, investment and public administrative management.  The Ambassador also said that Da Nang and some Canadian localities would establish cooperative relations in education and training, cultural exchanges and judicial services in the near future.

For his part, Vice Chairman Nghia highly applauded the visit made by the Ambassador.  He added that he would like the Canadian diplomat to act as a bridge to appeal for more businesses from Canada to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang.
