During his meeting on Thursday afternoon with the Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Van Huu Chien, the Canadian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr David Devine, said he was deeply impressed with the city’s modern development.

The visiting guest said that Canadian businesses are showing a keen interest in the city’s business environment.  He added that the Canadian government has always encouraged their localities and businesses to further promote cooperation with Da Nang.

The Canadian diplomat also remarked that his country’s “Cooperation between the Cities for Economic Development” programme aims to encourage more of its localities to establish cooperative ties with those in Viet Nam.  He also promised to introduce a Canadian locality which shares many similarities with Da Nang to establish bilateral cooperation in the near future.

For his part, Chairman Chien said that he would like the Ambassador to appeal for more businesses from Canada to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in Da Nang.  He also urged the Ambassador to help the city seek more scholarship funds for its students, and employees who are working at local agencies, to study at Canadian universities.
