Indian Ambassador to Viet Nam pays a courtesy visit to city leader

During her courtesy visit to Da Nang’s leader on Thursday, the Ambassador of India to Viet Nam, Ms Shrimati Preeti Saran, expressed her delight at the modern development of the city. 

The Ambassador vowed that she would exert every effort to further strengthen Da Nang-India relations during her tenure.  She took the opportunity to mention the week-long India-Viet Nam cultural exchange programme which will take place in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang in March.  In addition, she remarked that the Indian Prime Minister has applauded Da Nang and a southern city in her country for their willingness to establish productive and sister-city relationships in the near future.

For his part, the municipal People’s Committee Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien, briefed his guest on his city’s socio-economic achievements over recent years, and its orientations.  The city leader also expressed his appreciation of the fruitful cooperation between Da Nang and some Indian localities in such aspects as culture, arts, training and education.  In addition, he asked the Indian ambassador to appeal for more businesses from her country to invest in Da Nang’s tourism, trade and hi-tech sectors.  Chairman Chien added that some of the city’s leaders will be visiting India soon to seek cooperative opportunities and invite more investment from this country.
