On Wednesday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, warmly received the President of the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS), Mr Shigeru Kawasaki.

President Kawasaki said that the biennial IAOS Conference on Official Statistics often take places in prestigious cities worldwide.  He noted that this year’s event, which will take “Challenges of State Statistics: Meeting the Demands of a Changing World” as its theme, will be held in Da Nang in October.  The event will be attended by about 200 statistical experts from around the world.  This is a good opportunity for the city to advertise its images of beautiful landscapes and friendly people to international friends.

Vice Chairman Khuong remarked that Da Nang has been selected to hold many important international events over recent years.  He vowed that the local authorities would exert every effort to ensure safety and security in order to ensure the success of this event.
