Japanese senator hails Viet Nam's healthcare cooperation
Japanese Senator Keizo Takemi, a member of the House of Councillors of Japan, has praised Viet Nam-Japan health care cooperation while meeting with President Truong Tan Sang in Ha Noi on March 5.
Takemi said the bilateral cooperation in this field is seeing much improvement and the two countries need to boost closer cooperation in resolving issues of common concern such as population aging, cancer and a prevalence of infectious diseases.
He said he believes both nations will work out proper mechanisms and policies to realisze a scheme on health insurance for all citizens.
President Sang thanked Japan for its great support to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development through official development assistance (ODA) over the past 20 years.
He applauded partnership initiatives by the two medical sectors, in which Japan helped Viet Nam build Cho Ray 2 hospital, prevent cancer, share experience in health insurance for all people and intensifying investment in medical equipment production.
The Japanese official's ongoing visit is to work with top officials of the legislature, ministries and agencies on health care and health insurance.
