Vice President Shigeru promised to conduct surveys on the 2nd phase of the Tien Sa Port upgrading, and the Lien Chieu Port building projects.  He also pointed out the complications and high costs of treating rainwater and industrial and domestic wastewater in the city.  He noted that Yokohama is a good example for Da Nang to learn from with its experience of effective wastewater treatment.

Mr Shigeru also stressed the need for Da Nang to promote the role of women in boosting bilateral cooperative relationships between the two cities, especially in the forthcoming forum on Da Nang Urban Development.  The event is expected to be held in the city in May, and its aim is to promote bilateral comprehensive cooperation with support from JICA.
