Senior leaders welcome Lao legislator
On March 11, State President Truong Tan Sang receives Lao National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Somphan Phengkhammy on a working visit to Viet Nam.
The Lao guest briefed President Sang on the results of his delegation’s working visit with the Vietnamese NA, advising that his trip is to learn more about legislative experiences and the operational model of the people’s councils in some Vietnamese localities to prepare for the upcoming People’s Council election.
President Sang expressed his satisfaction with the growing political and economic links between the two countries, the regular exchange visits, higher bilateral trade value and their closer coordination at domestic and international forums and among ministries, sectors and localities.
Sang praised Laos’ efforts to maintain economic growth and said that he believes Laos will perform well its status as pro-active ASEAN member and chair rotary meetings between Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) meetings.
Meeting with the Lao NA leader on the same day, NA Chairman Hung applauded the outcome of the working session between officials of the two legislative bodies and asked both sides to increase cooperation and the sharing of law making experience and delegation exchange.
He briefed Phengkhammyon the new points of Viet Nam’s new Constitution and highlighted the role of the NA and People’s Councils in carrying out socio-economic development plans.
The Lao NA Vice Chairman thanked Viet Nam for creating favarouble conditions for his delegation during the visit.
He expressed his hope to learn more from the operation of Vietnamese local administrations aiming to build proper operational models.
