On Tuesday morning, the Singaporean naval ship RSS Resolution, with 250 crew members on board, docked at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port at the start of a 4-day friendly visit to the city.  This is the first time that the RSS Resolution has visited Da Nang, and but it is the 9th Singaporean naval ship to have visited Viet Nam.

In the afternoon, a group of the ship’s commanders led by the Singaporean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam, Mr Ng Teck Hean, paid a courtesy visit to the Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien.

Chairman Chien applauded the visit by the Singaporean ambassador and the naval commanders, which would help to deepen the friendship and cooperative relationship between his city and Singapore.  He remarked that in addition to economic and cultural aspects, the visit by the ship would help to lift the military relationship between the two localities to a higher level.

The city leader noted that Singapore is a good example for Da Nang to learn from, especially given its experience of urban planning, transport infrastructure, and socio-economic development.

He also took the opportunity to ask the Singaporean ambassador to do his utmost to appeal for more of his country’s businesses to invest in the city’s hi-tech industrial park project.

Chairman Chien said that his city is now home to 12 Singaporean businesses.  He vowed that the local authorities would create very favourable conditions for them to invest and operate effectively in the city.
