Viet Nam, Indonesia interested in all-around links

Viet Nam and Indonesia have set to foster comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, particularly in economics, culture, education and peace in the East Sea.

The agreement was reached during the talks in Ha Noi on March 3 between National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Indonesian Speaker of People’s Consultative Assembly Sidarto Danusubroto, right after the welcome ceremony in the morning.

Chairman Hung said he believes the visit will further tighten ties between the two nations and their legislatures in particular, expressing hope that Indonesia will realise its goal of becoming one of the world’s top 10 economies by 2025.

Viet Nam always values and gives priority to boosting relations with ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia. The establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries in June 2013 marks a considerable progress in their bonds over the past 60 years, he noted.

The host noted his wish that both legislative bodies will facilitate contents of the Viet Nam – Indonesia cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region, bringing ASEAN nations closer on the path of achieving the common Community by 2015.

He also hailed Indonesia’s Initiative on Six-Point Principle in the East Sea and suggested realising signed agreements in earnest to ensure peace and security in the waters and mainland for the sake of peace in the region.

The top legislator took the occasion to invite Sidarto Danusubroto to attend the 132 nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Ha Noi in March 2015.

Sidarto Danusubroto said he is confident that Viet Nam will reap more development successes and increasingly confirm its role and position in the region and the world at large.

The Speaker expressed his interest to beef up connections with the Vietnamese NA, ratify joint cooperation agreements and monitor their implementation.

The East Sea issue, according to him, should be solved by peaceful means and dialogue.
