On Monday afternoon, leaders of the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development met with Director Thongkham Manivong and some representatives from the equivalent department in Laos’ Sekong Province.

The hosts and guests discussed the positive results from the implementation of the department’s programmes which are helping Sekong Province to promote the development of its agricultural sector and implement local hunger elimination and poverty reduction programmes.

To mark the occasion, Director Manivong presented a Certificate of Merit from his provincial government to the local department in recognition of its outstanding assistance for his province.  Over recent years, Da Nang has become actively involved in providing agricultural machinery and equipment, and breeding animals and plants to the province.  In addition, the city has transferred advanced cultivation technologies, and given training courses on farming techniques to provincial residents.  This has made a significant contribution to the province’s hunger elimination and poverty reduction work.

The Head of the Southern Laos Project Management Board, Mr Le Van Hung, also received a Certificate of Merit in recognition of his great efforts in promoting the department’s assistance programmes in Sekong Province.
