During his reception for a group of assistants from the US Senate on Tuesday morning, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council (PC), Mr Huynh Nghia, affirmed that his city would refuse any FDI projects which pollute the environment.  The city leader said that his city has developed its own “Building Da Nang into an Environmentally-friendly City” project which focuses on rubbish collection and treatment, keeping local beaches and drainage systems clean, and raising awareness among local residents of environmental protection.

Vice Chairman Nghia briefed his guests on the actions of the city’s National Assembly members and PC over recent years, especially the local resolutions concerning socio-economic development.  This has helped Da Nang to record remarkable achievements in recent years.  He said he would like the US guests to appeal for more US businesses to invest in the city in such aspects as IT and hi-tech, education, and health, as well as provide more support for local disabled people.

During their first visit to Da Nang, the US assistants said that they were very impressed with the city’s modern urban space, especially the clean and green environment, smooth transportation, and beautiful bridges over the Han River.  The visiting guests also said that they want to learn about the future development strategies of the city’s tourism and agricultural sectors.  The city's annual total export turnover to the USA has reached around 200 million USD.
