On Monday morning, Dong A University, the universities of Economics and Education, and some other educational institutions in Da Nang celebrated the 124^th birth anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh. Thousands of staff members and students attended the meetings.

Also at the event, the participants spoke out against China’s illegal act of placing the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone on the continental shelf.  They also took this opportunity to appeal to the whole community to join in efforts to protect peace in the East Sea. 

To mark the occasion, the Dong A University and the University of Economics donated over 100 million VND and 60 million VND respectively to the Marine Police and Fisheries Surveillance forces who are fulfilling their law enforcement missions in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) waters.  The donated money was raised from their teaching staff members and students.
