On Wednesday, the Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, hosted a reception for the Deputy Director General of the Department for the Americas and Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Ms Eija Rotinen.

The visiting guest said that the purpose of her visit to Da Nang was to find suitable ways to expand the bilateral cooperation between Finland and Da Nang.  She added that her visit focussed on reviewing the Finland International Development Agency-funded programme which had been implemented in the city several years ago.  The programme was aimed at helping local disabled people and their families integrate into the community on equal terms, as well as increase their self-confidence in social activities.

For his part, Vice Chairman Viet asked the Finnish diplomat to do her utmost to organise a Da Nang-Finland business forum in the city as soon as possible.  The purpose would be to help participating businesses seek new strategies for mutual cooperation and development.  The host also took the opportunity to ask the visiting guest to appeal for more groups of businesses from her country to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang.  He vowed that the local authorities would create even more favourable conditions for Finnish businesses to invest and operate effectively in the city.
