On 4 June, the Chairman of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands District People’s Committee (PC), Mr Vo Cong Chanh, and the former PC chairman, Mr Dang Cong Ngu, conducted a survey of the damaged fishing boat from Thanh Khe District, DNa 90152, which was capsized by a Chinese ship on 26 May.  Looking at the seriously damaged boat, they expressed their strong indignation about China's inhumane actions.

Chairman Chanh said that as the leader of the Hoang Sa District People’s Committee, he would ask for permission from the city’s authorities as well as negotiate with the owner of the fishing boat, Mrs Huynh Thi Nhu Hoa, to have the boat sent to the Hoang Sa Exhibition House for display instead of being repaired.  He added that the boat would be realistic and convincing evidence which will help domestic and foreign visitors to understand more about the brave and heroic spirit of Vietnamese fishermen, as well as China’s inhumane actions.

The authorised Chairman of Da Nang’s Fishery Association, Mr Tran Van Linh, promised that his association would help Mrs Hoa’s family complete legal procedures to sue the Chinese side for its deliberate attack.  Mrs Hoa said that she and local relevant agencies would ask China to compensate her for the damage to her boat.
