On Wednesday evening, the Consulate General of Russia in Da Nang hosted a party to celebrate Russia’s National Day (12 June).  In attendance were the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, along with some representatives from the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam-Russia Friendship Association and the organisations in the city which have relations with the Russian Federation.

Addressing the event, the Russian Consul General in Da Nang, Mr Valentin M Dikushin, said that he was delighted to host the party to celebrate his country’s special day in the city.  He remarked that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Viet Nam has developed well and is being constantly strengthened.  The Russian diplomat also took the opportunity to wish Russian and Vietnamese people a happy and peaceful life.

Vice Chairman Viet vowed that the local authorities would exert every effort to foster and promote the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in the context of the escalating tensions between Viet Nam and China in the East Sea.  He said he would like the Russian government to raise its voice in support of Viet Nam and demand that China withdraws its HD-981 oil drilling rig from Viet Nam's exclusive economic zone.
