The Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Phung Tan Viet, recently hosted a reception for the General Manager for the Public Sector of the Microsoft Asia Pacific Area, Mr Boosan Gan.

Vice Chairman Viet thanked the Microsoft Corporation for its support for Da Nang in establishing an information technology (IT) centre on the basis of the Private Cloud solution.   In recent years, the Corporation has also helped the city to improve the operation of the local computer network and e-mail systems, as well as to set up a virtual server system and other IT services.  In addition, Vice Chairman Viet remarked that the development of the city’s e-government system and smart IT infrastructure has helped to increase satisfaction with the city’s IT services amongst local residents, businesses and organisations.

Also at the event, the host said he hoped that the Corporation would establish a representative office in Da Nang as soon as possible as well as continue to develop the Microsoft CityNext solutions in the city.  In addition, he said he would like Microsoft to assist local departments and agencies in installing and using copyrighted software products, and improve their IT and communications services.  He added that the city is now in need of assistance from the Corporation to promote IT applications in local primary, junior and senior high schools.

In reply, Mr Gan noted that the implementation of the Microsoft CityNext solutions will allow the Vietnamese government to develop open source data centres, which will ensure transparency in local public services.  He added that the CityNext incorporates numerous IT solutions and services which will be applied in all local aspects, including construction, planning, infrastructure, transport, public safety, legal procedures, education, healthcare and public administrative management.  This will help to improve links between the city’s leaders and the local residents in all aspects.

The guest also said he hoped that his corporation and the city’s authorities will work together to implement the CityNext solutions in the near future.  The aim is to improve the quality of local public services as well as to increase links amongst the city’s authorities, its businesses and its residents.
