During the 17^th open session of the Da Nang Party Committee (PC), the municipal PC Secretary, Mr Tran Tho, urged all local relevant agencies to make every effort to effectively implement the city’s key tasks of economic and social improvement and Party building.

Top priority should be given to exceeding this year’s socio-economic growth targets.  In particular, an aim will be to exceed the city’s total budget collection targets by around 10% by the end of this year.  Every effort should also be made to ensure that some of the local key projects are delivered on time.  These are the rebuilding of the Da Nang General Science Library, the construction of an overpass at the Hue T-junction and other local priority infrastructure development projects.  Further emphasis will be on coping with floods and storms, implementing effective search and rescue activities, and developing socio-economic development plans for next year.

Special attention should also be paid to drug prevention and control, building Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city, ensuring urban order, and preparing well for the cultural activities to mark the 40^th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang and for the 2015 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition.

Finally, great importance should be attached to Party building, especially criticism and self-criticism work and measuring the quality of local Party members.  A focus will be on preparatory work for the forthcoming 21^th Congress of the municipal PC.
