At the recent 6^th Congress of the Da Nang Youth Federation (DYF) in the 2014 - 2019 tenure, the Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Mr Tran Tho, stressed the need for local youths to pursue noble ideals in their lives.

During the 2009 - 2014 tenure, local youths became actively involved in local economic development, and social and charitable activities.  In particular, they provided free examinations, treatment and medicines for a total of over 80,000 poor and social policy beneficiaries and needy children.  In addition, 35,000 gifts, 7,818 new sets of clothes, and 3,220 blankets, worth over 8 billion VND in total, were donated to local disadvantaged people. 

Outstanding Youth organisations being honoured

Over the review period, more than 5,000 local young people voluntarily joined the army, and 135,000 participated in local voluntary blood donation campaigns.  Also, 8,700 outstanding young people were honoured for following Uncle Ho’s teachings through making positive contributions to the community.  Meanwhile, around 2,900 poor young people enjoyed free vocational training in order to find it easier to find jobs after graduation.

With regard with the tasks for the 2014 - 2019 tenure, local young people will make great efforts to realise their ambitions, as well as join with the city authorities and local residents to develop Da Nang into a civilised and modern city.
