All activities by parties involved in the Bien Dong (East Sea) need to actively contribute to building peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said on November 20.

Binh responded to reporters’ questions on the announcement of China’s strategic action plan on energy development for 2014-2020.

“We suppose all activities by parties concerned in the Bien Dong will strictly abide by international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as respecting the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of coastal countries.”, he added.
