Over the past 10 years, Da Nang’s Hai Chau District has seen remarkable changes with the boom in new residential areas, high-rise complexes and buildings.  The district’s urban growth has been in accordance with the city’s current development strategies. 

During the past decade, the district has moved its economic structure in the right direction.  The focus has been on effectively improving urban order management, ensuring environmental hygiene, social welfare and national defence and security, and creating job opportunities for local residents.  Special attention has also been paid to the building of the Party and a strong political system in order to successfully fulfil the district’s targets.

In attempting to effectively implement its development orientations to 2020 with a vision towards 2030, leaders of the district will give top priority to shifting the local economic structure more towards trade-services and the hi-tech industry in order to accelerate the local industrialisation and modernisation process.  Also, great importance will be attached to preserving the cultural and historical values, ensuring environmental protection, and promoting synchronous urban development.  The emphasis will be on developing Hai Chau District into a model urban district, deserving of its central urban district title, in accordance with the city’s development strategies.
