Hopes for business links with Kyushu, Japan
The Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Phung Tan Viet, recently played host to the Senior Managing Director of Japan’s Kyushu Economic Federation (the Kyukeiren), Mr Masahiro Nakagawa.
Vice Chairman Viet asked the Kyukeiren to appeal for Japanese businesspeople from the Kyushu region to seek investment opportunities in the city in the year ahead. He also said he hoped that Da Nang and the Kyushu region would enter into a cooperation agreement soon in order to boost bilateral relations.

In reply, the Japanese visitor promised that the Kyukeiren would in the near future send representatives from Japanese businesses to learn about the city’s investment climate, and that every effort would be made to promote bilateral cooperation with Da Nang.
Mr Nakagawa said that the Kyukeiren was established in April 1961 with the purpose of spurring Kyushu's economy and unifying its business community. He added the Kyushu region has an area of 42,180 km2 and a population of over 13 million, accounting for 11.2% of Japan's total land area and 10.6% of its population.
