A ceremony took place in Da Nang on Monday morning to announce the retirement of Mr Van Huu Chien, the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

The former Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, was promoted to be the new Chairman in its 8^th tenure of the 2011 - 2016 term.

On the same day, Mr Duc Tho was also appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the city’s Party Committee in its 20^th tenure of the 2010 - 2015 term.

Mr Duc Tho possesses Bachelor degrees in Economics and English Language, and a Masters degree in Public Relations.

He was promoted to the post of Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee on 14 April 2014.  In January 2010, he had been appointed as the Director of the city’s Department of Planning and Investment.
