On Thursday afternoon, some of Da Nang’s leaders met with around 100 former teachers who used to teach students from the southern region of Viet Nam at schools in the northern region during the 1954 - 1975 period.  They are now living in Da Nang or in Quang Nam Province.

The Head of the Liaison Committee for the southern region’s former students, Mr Van Huu Chien, affirmed that Da Nang’s leaders always show special concern for the former teachers, and he wished them peace, happiness, and good health in the new year.  Also at the event, the city’s leaders presented gifts, worth over 2 million VND each, to the former teachers.

On the same day, the Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Council, Mr Huynh Nghia, paid a pre-Tet visit to the Da Nang Newspaper.  He spoke highly of the great efforts made by the editors and all the staff at the newspaper over recent years.  They have become actively involved in widely publicising the Party and local policies and laws, and reflecting the daily lives of local residents.  This had attracted an increasing number of readers.  The city leader also wished the newspaper’s staff happiness and good health in the new year.

Da Nang Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief, Mr Mai Duc Loc, thanked Mr Nghia for his Tet greetings.  Mr Loc pledged that the editors and all the staff members would make every effort to improve the quality of the newspaper publications to attract more readers.
