Deputy PM extends Tet greetings to local leaders and residents
On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Da Nang to extend Tet greetings to the city’s leaders and residents.
Mr Phuc praised the city for its remarkable achievements in improving the urban infrastructure, State budget collections, and production, tourism and service activities over the past year. He also remarked that Da Nang was one of the localities nationwide which had exceeded their targets of fulfilling socio-economic development tasks and ensuring security and defence. This has made a significant contribution to the country’s progress.

Deputy PM Phuc wished local leaders and residents good health in the Lunar New Year and hoped that there would be a high level of consensus amongst the local authorities and the people. He also said he hoped that Da Nang would become a leading locality in the central region and highlands. He stressed the need for the local authorities to prepare well for the 2017 APEC Summit which is expected to be held in Da Nang. He added that the event would provide a golden opportunity to advertise to international friends the image of Da Nang as a young and friendly city, and that Viet Nam is a dynamic and developing country.
In reply, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Tran Tho thanked the Party and State leaders, especially Deputy PM Phuc, for their active support for the city over recent years. He vowed that local leaders would make every effort to reach the city’s targets set for this year, and in the years ahead.
The city leader took the opportunity to ask permission from the Prime Minister to rebuild highway 14G and to relocate the city’s railway station away from the inner city. He also vowed that the city authorities would do their utmost to make the APEC Summit in 2017 a great success.
