On 9 and 10 March some members of the Lao National Assembly (NA) attended a conference in Da Nang on improving public consultation skills.  The event was organised by the Vietnamese NA Committee for Deputy Affairs.

The participants were given an overview of public consultation, as well as the position and role of the NA and groups of NA members in implementing public consultation activities.  In addition, the conference highlighted the process and forms of public consultation, along with necessary tools and skills for it.

Also at the event, the Lao NA members became involved in organising a meeting to collect public opinions about a policy or an agenda of the Lao NA.

In addition, representatives from some Vietnamese NA agencies and the Quang Ngai Province People’s Council shared their experiences in gathering public opinions about the Vietnamese NA’s policies.
