Published: April 17, 2015

On Thursday, a group of representatives from Slovakia’s Kosice City, led by its mayor Richard Rasi, was warmly welcomed by Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish bilateral friendship and cooperation was signed during the reception.

Chairman Tho stated that Da Nang would issue more favourable policies in order to appeal for more hi-tech projects, and to enhance tourism promotion activities to attract more visitors from the Northern European countries.  The host also said he hoped that the signing of the MoU would lift the bilateral friendship and cooperation between the 2 localities to new heights in the near future.

In reply, Mayor Rasi remarked that Viet Nam and Slovakia successfully celebrated the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (2 February).

He also affirmed that his city and Da Nang share many similarities in their orientations for the development of clean industries, information technology, and tourism in order to deserve the title of green cities in their countries.

The Slovakian guest also vowed to develop plans as soon as possible for appealing to businesses from his city to invest in environmentally-friendly projects in Da Nang and to help attract more visitors from his locality.  This will lay a firm foundation for long-term bilateral cooperation between the 2 localities in the economics, culture, health and education sectors.
