70th anniversary of victory over fascism celebrated
Last Friday, the Consulate General of Russia in Da Nang hosted a banquet to celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany (9 May). The event was attended by municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri and other leaders of the local authorities, along with members of the city’s branch of the Viet Nam-Russia Friendship Association and other local relevant organisations.
Delivering the opening speech, Russian Consul General Valentin M Dikushin highlighted the great victory of the former Soviet Union and its allies over the fascism which had caused so much suffering to people. He also remarked that the former Soviet Union and Russia have always highly praised their allies for their significant contributions to the anti-fascism struggle.

The Russian diplomat also took the opportunity to speak highly of the attendance by State President Truong Tan Sang at a ceremony in Moscow last Saturday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In addition, Mr Dikushi expressed his strong discontent with several countries self-identifying themselves as holding democratic standards but yet publicise Nazism, distort historical truths, and sow discords between countries worldwide. He affirmed that Russia would continue its efforts to strongly oppose the plots to threaten the stability of the current world order, human rights and democratic principles.
