During his meeting on Sunday with Da Nang People's Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, Indian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anil Wadhwa said that he highly appreciated the city’s great potential and strength in the local tourism sector.

The Indian Deputy Minister said he hopes that India-Da Nang direct flights will be opened as soon as possible in order to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in tourism and IT human resource development.

He also said that he would like the city’s authorities to encourage more students from local public and private universities to attend courses at the Viet Nam-India Centre for English Language Training, which opened in the city in 2009 at 6A Tran Phu Street.

In reply, Chairman Duc Tho expressed his desire that the Indian government would continue to create even more favourable conditions for the Centre to ensure its sustainable and efficient operation in the city.

The host also remarked that Da Nang has yet to establish official bilateral ties with any Indian localities.  Therefore, he asked the Indian guest to help his city to establish bilateral cooperation with India’s Kolkata City in order to boost their multi-faceted ties in the future.
