14th session of People's Council opens
The 14th session of the municipal People’s Council in its 8th tenure for the 2011 - 2016 term opened at the meeting hall of the People’s Council at 42 Bach Dang Street today.
The session, which will run until 9 July, is being broadcast live on Da Nang Radio and Television (DRT) channels.
This morning, the session reviewed the city’s socio-economic performance and its security and defence in the first half of the year, as well as identified the main tasks for the remainder of the year.

In particular, answers were given to some of the main matters of deep concern which had been collected at the recent meetings between city leaders and local voters.
There were also reports released by the municipal People’s Committee about the city’s budget estimates over the first half of the year and measures to effectively use the budget for the rest of the year. In addition, the regulations about the collection of fees and other related charges across the city were discussed.
The participants also heard a report from the city’s Fatherland Front Committee about local government building work over the 6-month period. Also, reports from the boards of Economics and Budget, Cultural and Social Issues and Legislation were presented.
This afternoon, the People’s Council members were divided into different groups to discuss the reports mentioned above. Voting also took place for the post of Vice Chairperson of the city’s People’s Council, members of its Permanent Board, and members of the municipal People’s Committee in the 2011 - 2016 tenure.
The Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council and Head of the city's NA members’ group, Mr Huynh Nghia, was awarded a First Class Labour Medal from the State in recognition of his significant achievements for the city’s progress.
