Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung recently played host to the Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Viet Nam, Mr Rémi Genevey.

Vice Chairman Dung thanked the French organisation for giving Da Nang financial aid to implement local urban development projects, especially those involved in climate change mitigation and environmental protection.

He also remarked that positive results from the bilateral cooperation between his city and AFD over recent years have helped to further local socio-economic development in a sustainable manner, with a focus on enhancing natural disaster mitigation and climate change adaptation.

The host also said that he would like AFD to continue funding local projects on infrastructure development, transport improvement, environmental remediation and other aspects in the future.

In reply, Mr Genevey vowed that his organisation would be willing to support Da Nang in the deployment of projects on climate change adaptation and community-based disaster mitigation.  With regard to the other projects suggested by Mr Dung, he remarked that their implementation is totally reasonable because it will help lever the city’s progress and make it an even larger economic hub in the central region.
