In his closing speech at the 14th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 8th tenure for the 2011 - 2016 term, municipal Party Committee Tran Tho highlighted the key tasks for the second half of this year.

The focus will be on ensuring that the city’s total State budget collection will exceed this year’s targets by between 5 and 10%.  Stronger measures will also be taken to collect a total of 952 billion VND in overdue tax arrears.

Importance will also be attached to developing effective plans to boost the city’s socio-economic development, implement a project to further the development of local tourism, and identify next year’s key projects.

Top priority will be given to issuing numerous support policies for local businesses, with a focus on helping them to access business premises to use for production and ensuring fair competition amongst them.

He also urged the local authorities to expedite the progress of this year’s key projects, and to revoke the investment licences of some local projects due to delays in their implementation.  Special heed will be on promptly deploying the Thanh Nien (Youth) Park project, upgrading the 29 March Park, and building a park at 84 Hung Vuong Street near the city’s Trung Vuong Theatre.

Local relevant agencies will complete the design of new types of canopies over the fronts of businesses, shops and houses along some of the city’s major streets and expedite the establishment of the 2nd phase of the specialised shopping area on Le Duan street.  In particular, power and telecommunications cables will be moved underground along some local streets in order to give a higher aesthetic value.

With regard to site clearance for the rebuilding of the Con Market, a total of103 families affected by project will receive compensation for their houses or land lots at the market price at the time of site clearance, or at the price stipulated by the city, along with other benefits. An apartment building for these displaced households will soon be constructed on Dong Da Street.

A total of 600 resettlement land lots in Lien Chieu District will be allocated to local displaced families affected by the city’s development projects. Another 300 land lots across the city will be granted to local government officials and employees who have no home of their own.

Every effort will be made to boost the sale of local State-owned social housing apartments and strict penalties will be imposed on illegal apartment brokers.

The local authorities will aim to make the city’s Cancer Hospital a public medical establishment by 2 September, giving free medical examinations and treatment for poor people with health insurance cards from the city and Quang Nam Province.

Attention will be paid to the city’s 'Year for Culture and Urban Civilisation 2015' programme, stopping the collection of road maintenance fees from local motorcycle owners, and relocating all existing graves out of the inner-city area.
