City leader receives new US Vice Ambassador

On Thursday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, played host to a group from the US Embassy in Viet Nam, led by its new Vice Ambassador Susan Sutton, along with Rear Admiral Charles Williams, Commander of the Logistics Group Western Pacific and Task Force 73. 

Vice Chairman Viet thanked the US government for its great support during the construction of the Huong Duong (Sunflower) Preschool, the Hoa Phu Primary School, and the Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control and Mitigation, Search and Rescue in the city.

He also took the opportunity to ask the US government to help businesses in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to enter the free trade agreement in the near future.  He also said that his city really needed more assistance from the USA in promoting the development of such aspects as health care, education and investment, and especially to provide emergency alert equipment for the city's Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control and Mitigation, Search and Rescue.

Vice Ambassador Susan Sutton and Rear Admiral Charles Williams expressed their pleasure at visiting Da Nang.  They vowed that they would do their utmost to help the city by passing on his suggestions to relevant agencies in the USA.
