Viet Nam asks Taiwan to stop lighthouse construction
Viet Nam resolutely opposes Taiwan’s construction of an illegal lighthouse in Ba Binh Island, part of Viet Nam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Le Hai Binh.
The spokesman was responding to reporters’ questions on the move by Taiwan (China) in Ha Noi on August 24.
Binh said that the construction seriously violated Viet Nam’s territorial sovereignty over Truong Sa archipelago, adding that it caused strain and had complicated the situation in the Bien Dong (East Sea).

“Viet Nam has full legal basic and historical evidence to claim its non-controversial sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos,” he said.
“All foreign-related activities in the water areas without Viet Nam’s permission are illegal and valueless,” he said.
“Viet Nam demands that Taiwan must immediately stop the wrongful action and not undertake such activities again,” he stressed.
